16 Weeks.. Boom boom what was that?

Here we are at 16 weeks... Now we are moving along.

My goodness the first trimester took forever. I am now free from the constant hangover and nausea, however my appetite has still not returned.  I basically eat to survive at this point.  I had more cravings and "Must have's right now" moments before I was pregnant.

Today I went to the Dr. to check on the heart beat.  While the Dr. was checking for the heartbeat with her doppler on my stomach she said "ohh.. baby just kicked my hand". Apparently the baby is doing flips and high kicks in my abdomen as the heartbeat had to be chased with the doppler as the baby moved around. I SWEAR I DIDN"T HAVE THAT NUTELLA I WAS EYEING THAT MORNING.

A few hours later after lunch while  driving I felt.. "boom" then another "boom" each on the left and right side of the abdomen. Perhaps she doesn't like my driving.

BELLY SHOTS

And that is ALL your going to see : )

NURSERY

I Bought my crib and matching dresser... Here is a peek.

I am thinking of going with the Nursery theme "African Queen"
a'little travel, a'little safari, and a'little queen : )

But knowing myself, this theme could change to Italian Riviera, Hello Hongkong or Sailing across the sea at any moment.

Our daughter's first pet

Kurt and I are all about Low Maintenance Pets
Our daughter's first dog will have batteries

Thinking of a zebra for the floor

A little Trophy for the wall.. I'll be the only one at Toys R Us sawing off a large stuffed lyon's head at home I imagine.

Perhaps I'll play Indian Jones Music as you enter the nursery. Kurt will love that .. haaaa

14 Weeks pregs.... ITS A....?????

Here we are at 14 weeks

So our lil babe is sucking her thumb at this point, I am starting to think Kurt and I should start saving up for braces.
My stomach is now large enough to look like I won the Pie eating contest at the county fair.
I can see people who walk by look at my belly now and do a double take, I think they are afraid to say "are you pregnant.. or just fat"

TWO Ultrasounds ONE sex

The first ultrasound tech checking the length of the baby said "Oh I know what the sex is".
I stopped her before she could say another word. " Don't tell me... just write it down.. but are you really sure?" I replied.  The tech assured me " I've done this for 30 years.. yes I've seen a few of these"

My thoughts = It must be a boy.

A week later I received another ultrasound to determine the gender.
As Kurt and I looked away from the screen when the tech was searching for the gender bits, she said "Oh yep, I see it, I'll take a photo"

My thoughts = It must be a boy.

The tech wrote it down and then compared her results to my other doctors and she said she totally agreed.

THE BABY'S BITS

See the arrow pointing to something which I guess is a vagina

Do you see the Baby's profile above?
The face is pointing to the left where the white shadow is

After our appointment we took the envelope with the gender written in it to a baker, That evening we had a gender cake
party.

Our cake

Here is the video we took of our surprise announcement to my parents with the news that we were having a baby. At the end of the video is our baby gender cake announcement. It was so much fun and we were totally surprised as you can see.

12 Weeks..... 3 month mark.. am I really here?

12 weeks... YEY Im 3 months.. wow that took a really long time.

I had my ultrasound yesterday.  It's amazing the technology looks like it hasn't changed since the 70's.
I didn't find it comfortable at all. She pushed around and banged on my stomach to get the baby to move as if it was going to do tricks for her.
I captured it on video. It was so cute to see the baby moving his/her hands and legs.. it's so surreal.

Baby's face and profile start at the top.. the whiter part is the forehead
you can see the nose down from there.

Speaking of Gender, after banging on my abdomen for over an 40 minutes trying to get my baby to change position and get off of his/her head the ultrasound tech said "I think I know the sex" I told her to ZIP IT.. and write it down in an envelope and stick it into my purse.
Meanwhile this envelope is burning a hole in my purse... Im dying to open it, however I will refrain from doing so.

Burning a hole in my purse

Next Friday we will do another ultrasound to find out the gender this ultrasound place is usually 99% accurate, we will have the tech keep the gender from us, write it down as well and put it into an envelope (not before checking if the prior gender prediction matches).  We will then take the envelope and give it to a baker and have them put the color of the gender in the middle of the cake.
Then we will have a little gender dinner party, cut the cake and find out what we are having.

Kurt and I really would love a Boy or a Girl.. thank GOD those are our only two options.
I could never chose one over the other. Health is our main priority for our little one as well as he or she gets  Kurts teeth : )

Gender Predictions

I have done every online gender predictor and old wives tale test that exist.
I've done the ring over the belly, chinese calendar charts, pee'd in baking soda, you name it I've tried it.
Everything points to a girl
However, the first outfit I bought for the baby was a blue striped t-shirt with a motorcycle on it.
Every baby store I enter I go straight to the boy section for some reason.
Sooo who knows..

We will see Friday ..

I will video the cutting of the cake and post it

11 Weeks...... eeeeks 200 More days of humor

Here we are at 11 Weeks, I skipped posting at 10 weeks.. since it was
the same song and dance as 7, 8, 9 and 10

My saving grace these past few weeks have been

Sea Sickness Bands. Who knew that I would do fine at Sea yet get sick on land.
So I just explain Im queazy on Land when people ask what are they for, or for those who are not from California I tell them the constant earthquakes make me nauseated.

This week I will be shopping for  a new bed mate. Something along the lines of
I wonder where Kurt will sleep..

Well I sure hope I find him in the bed : )

Its funny how when I tell people I am pregnant people feel the need to touch my stomach.
Next person who does this I will reply 'Now my turn"

Everyone and their mother want to give you advice once you are pregnant. As if everyone's body chemistry is EXACTLY  the same
and it seems everyone wants to measure you up and down to how many weeks you are pregnant.
I can't believe some of the things that come out of peoples mouths.
I am prepared for it to get worse the next 6 months.
Here are a few t-shirts I might buy

I am preparing to hear:

Are you pregnant!?!  -  reply:

Oh no.. I just won a pie eating contest, or Oh you must be too??

Are you suppose to be that big, you can't possibly be X months
-  reply:

You know so much about my body I should just quit going to my OB and go straight to you, can I call you at 2 am when I get a cramp?

Are you sure you don't have twins in there?
-  reply:

Yes, I'm pretty sure I would be aware if I were carrying two babies. But, thanks for checking. Ill start eating for 3 now Thanks
Are you going to breastfeed?
-  reply:

And ... this impacts you how?? Did you want me to save you some breast milk or are you selling formula?

You are absolutely having a boy/girl.
-  reply:

Really? My Gosh, your a human Ultrasound, thats it Im really breaking up with my OB and seeing you

 Did you plan this?

-  reply:

Yes I remote controlled the sperm to insert and fertilize the egg.

Woooee.. Look at you (gasping at how big you are)

-  reply:

Woooeee.. Look at you (and stare at their belly)

9 Weeks.... It's the small things

Here we are at 9 weeks.

Gosh these illustrations are kind of disturbing for me. The head of the baby is freaking me out.
So I am still nauseous and feel that I am still on the boat lost at sea but I think I can see land and I have a box of triscuits with me... things are looking up.

Here are a few loves of my life right now I thought I'd share.

Ginger Ale is now my cocktail of choice

My other big investment and now best friend is

Yes toilet paper. I may want Kurt to buy stock in Charmin.
I must have no ability to hold liquid, I do drink water like a fish but SERIOUSLY..

Another Favorite indulgence is
Yep I pop these like they are skittles.

Here is a peek at our Gummy bear growing. Sorry about the resolution and flash
My mother and I saw the baby move and heard the heartbeat it was a beautiful moment.

On the Romantic Side of things.. Kurt and I shared our first anniversary this week.
One year ago we were celebrating our wedding in a Castle in Florence.
It was the most magical time in our lives.

Here is the 1 min video I put together for our anniversary with our little surprise gift at the end

8 Weeks...

Here we are at 8 weeks pregnant.

I do not feel different than at 7 weeks, same misery of floating on a rocking boat at sea without saltine crackers. No real cravings to mention.. I actually had more "I must have right now" cravings before I was pregnant.

We did an ultrasound a couple of weeks ago and we saw our little gummy bear (as my 6 year old nephew put it. ..then went on to talk about how he'd like to eat the gummy bear.. now he's scratched off the baby sitting list) Im not sure Kurt will go for Gummybear Miklinski on the birth certificate.

Gummybear

So the tummy is feeling a bit more full, eating a whole plate of anything is difficult.
Cherry slurpees are on my mind but Kurt won't let me have anything with "that much sugar in it"..
My new phrase is "The baby's hungry" if Im dying for something to eat... however that is
a rare occasion since everything edible sounds repulsive right about now.

Going for another ultrasound in a few days.. : ) hope all goes well.

7 weeks.. 1st trimester blues

Here we are at 7 weeks.

Why do I feel like I look 7 months?
The culptrit is the  Progesterone in my body.
I honestly feel I must be producing enough for octuplets because this is ridiculous.

Nausea

Interesting that the word Nausea has the word Sea in it because I feel everyday
as if I am at sea.
I could swear I am on a boat rocking back and forth in the middle of the ocean.. hungover.
Ohh the joys of the first trimester : )

Smell...

Wow my sense of smell is quite amazing. I feel like I should contact the FBI or the Police
and fill out an application. I know they could use my amazing skills of detecting a scent  from a mile away. In the case of an extra sensitive nose, it is estrogen to blame. This can make every little scent that wafts my way feel like an all out assault on my nostrils.  I have to say my sniffer is better than one of a bloodhound.
